Dear Parents,
We have been very, very busy this week in Pre-K! We continued learning about living things and their life cycles by exploring insects. We know insects have three body parts, two antennae, six or more legs, and sometimes four wings. We were able to look close up at a bee that had ended the life cycle with a magnifying glass and count all these characteristics. (The wind blew and caused the bee to move, and they all took off running...life cycles are hard to understand!) Unfortunately, we missed our butterfly release when all 10 of our caterpillars emerged from their chrysalis during spring break! Boo! We will try again before school gets out for summer.
We have been tying our visit to the Botanical Gardens with living things by also exploring plants and their life cycles. We planted a garden that we hope will be ready for you at the Spring Showcase on April 25 from 5:00-7:00PM. We hope you can come.
In math, we have been working with numbers and operations. We understand that we can add two quantities together to make a sum and also take away from a quantity to subtract. Big concepts, I know. But at recess there were 5 geese in the field. Two flew away (another scary adventure lol) and then the other 3 flew away. Zahir said, "and now there are zero". Your children amaze us every day.
Have the most fantastic weekend and happy birthday to August!
