We had such an amazing week in Pre-K as we continued to learn about insects (ants, ladybugs, spiders, crickets, and worms). We have been reading a nonfiction and fiction book about each insect so students can see that authors have different purposes when they write stories. We found a real spider in the hallway and captured it to look at it through a magnifying glass. Some were fascinated and some were not so sure once we informed them that it was "not pretend". Then we released out the window!
The Spring Showcase was so fun! Thank you to those who were able to make it. I made a class video, so I am hoping to be able to share it with you soon. We have been enjoying our garden and the pumpkin, sunflower, green bean, and carrot seeds have all sprouted! We were fascinated that the sprouts and leaves looked different from one another. We also replanted the sprout of an oak tree for Earth Day on April 22nd. It was so cool to see that an acorn is a seed!
We will begin our last theme which is "changes". We will first be exploring animal habitats and how we can have an impact on our environment through reducing, reusing, and recycling. In math, we will review shapes and sorting/classifying objects by attributes while tying in numbers and operations.
Next week is the start of Milestones testing at our school. Our movement around the building impacts student attention for those who are testing. Please try to arrive at school on time for the next two weeks (7:40AM). Also, we are unable to have visitors in the building during testing hours, which are typically 8:00-11:00AM. Thank you for understanding! Please send me a message if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a fabulous weekend!
